MARIPOSA

Project number: 2021-1-ES01-KA220-ADU-000033400

Project period: January 2022 – January 2024

Funding: Erasmus+

Website: mariposaproject.eu

Project Objective:

The main objective of MARIPOSA is to support the empowerment and recovery of women who have survived domestic and sexual violence. Through specially designed tools, the project helps women to recognise the abusive situation they are experiencing or have experienced, to redefine their position and needs, and to strengthen their self-esteem and their ability to avoid future incidents of abuse. At the same time, it encourages their participation in support networks and prevention initiatives.

Target Groups:

  • Direct beneficiaries: Women who have survived domestic and/or sexual violence.
  • Indirect beneficiaries: Peer support groups, professionals, organisations and bodies working to prevent and address gender-based violence.

Results:

The MARIPOSA project developed four key tools for empowerment and the prevention of gender-based violence, with the aim of supporting survivors and strengthening the community:

  1. Two online interactive tools, based on the ‘Symbolwork’ methodology:
  • ‘Me and my abilities’: A tool that helps women identify abusive behaviour, recognise their abilities and seek support.
  • “Empowering Myself”: Focuses on self-help and boosting women’s self-esteem, enabling them to plan their future and set personal goals.
  1. Two support and networking guides:
  • Guide to Empowering Survivors through Support Groups: Provides practical advice on supporting survivors through peer groups, with the aim of effectively empowering them and avoiding common challenges.
  • Guide to Networking and Campaigning for the Prevention and Elimination of Gender-Based Violence: Aimed at those wishing to build networks, design and implement awareness-raising campaigns and amplify messages against gender-based violence.

MARIPOSA’s tools and guides are available online and offer innovative, easily accessible and practical solutions for empowerment and prevention.
