“EDRA” has been operating two Supported Living Apartments since July 2012 (Subproject Code 5152 / 2012), located in the Municipality of Ilion and the Municipality of Peristeri, each accommodating 4 residents.
The Supported Living Apartment represents the final and most important link in the chain of treatment and reintegration of service users into the social fabric — as equal members of the community, who live, function, and work just like the rest of the population.
It is an alternative residential structure, operating within a broader psychosocial rehabilitation program, with a low level of support from a multidisciplinary therapeutic team (psychologist, social worker, nurse, etc.).
Its goal is to empower residents, enhance their independent living skills, and facilitate their full integration and participation in everyday community life.
The program is intended for individuals who voluntarily choose to participate in a specific rehabilitation plan, either coming from therapeutic units or already living in the community, whose psychosocial challenges also include the lack of suitable housing.
Therapeutic Objectives and Functions
The Supported Living Apartment fulfills a range of therapeutic and rehabilitative functions, such as:
- Ensuring a balanced sense of safety and support within an open community environment.
- Promoting progressively greater levels of personal responsibility among residents.
- Encouraging socialization, teamwork, and mutual respect for each individual’s personality.
- Facilitating vocational rehabilitation and pathways toward employment.
- Raising community awareness and reducing social stigma.
- Increasing residents’ capacity for independent living and active participation in community life.
